Pam Gardner
About Pam
I have been singing with Chorale since I arrived at HR in 2023. Singing for me is poetry set to music. It allows me to express a whole range of emotions and share with anyone in earshot. I started singing, like most people, in grade school and enjoyed performing in musicals in high school. I sang off and in choirs and just about every night putting my girls to sleep. I am thrilled to be able to share that with my grandchildren who all know the words to Raindrops on Roses. I can be heard belting out a tune in the morning, but don’t knock. I am in the shower. I love the challenge of some of the songs Audra chooses for us but also love the oldies and goodies. I have made wonderful friends and enjoy the camaraderie we all have.

Gail Smelkoff
About Gail
I have been in HR since the fall of 2001. We moved here on September 11, a date to remember. My husband and I were one of the first 50 homeowners so I asked the then social director Melissa about forming a group of people who enjoyed singing. Over the years we have sung many themed, Broadway, patriotic, holiday and even performed some dance numbers. The friendships and social gatherings are probably the most important part I have enjoyed, especially our director Audra and pianist Gayle

Barbara Berry
Past President
About Barbara
We moved to Heritage Ranch and I retired at the same year. I sang in Church Choirs beginning in High School & continue to this day. When I joined Jesse Young was our Director. Jesse was a Resident and held the position for 18 years before he retired. Ben Turner joined us during Covid and was a trooper. We sang over that summer in the parking lot until it got too dark and cold. Audra Turner took his place when his position grew at the Church they attend. We are so fortunate to have Audra direct us. I currently sit on the Chorale Board in the position of Past President. The Chorale is a “family” that I am so proud and thankful for.

Suzanne Victorine
About Suzanne
I started singing with the choir at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano a few months after we, my husband Art & I moved back to Texas in 2008 after living in Nashville TN for 20 years.
I was 65 at the time and had not sung with any choir since high school 🎶
We moved from Plano to HR in March of 2016.
We attended our first Chorale Spring Concert in May and I was so impressed I went looking for whomever was in charge to find out how I could join this awesome band of singers! Nancy Busby, our President welcomed me with open arms!
It still gives me joy whenever those stage curtains open and we begin to sing.

About Gina
I always enjoyed participating in both the orchestra as a first violinist and a soprano in the choir in junior highand high school. I’ve always felt and still do that music lifts the spirit.
I was delighted to learn that there was a chorale when I moved to Heritage Ranch.

Bonlee Rawley
Current President
About Bonlee
Singing has always been my way to cope with stress. Church choir started in elementary school through graduation. In college, I was too busy and actually not accompished enough for the choir. As an adult, I’ve participated in church choirs and was thrilled to learn about the Chorale at Heritage Ranch. I started rehearsing before I moved in and my villa remodeling was completed. The singing and fellowship in the Chorale is outstanding. The variety of musis is great fun and the patriotic performances will bring tears to your eyes.

Joan Van Vliet
About Joan
My husband and I arrived in Texas in September 2003 and discovered Heritage Ranch two months later. We rented a home until our house was built on Bridle Court in June 2004. With a desire to sing, a group of us formed the Heritage Ranch Chorale with Jimmy Herman as our director.
With Jimmy’s failing health we were very happy to have Jesse Young take control of the eagar singers.
As more homes were built the chorale rapidly grew to over 60. Throughout the years we’ve been singing the same programs as we currently sing. Quite often we included a line of dancers to our chorale repertoire. At Christmas we used to sing during the holiday dinners. For years we sang Christmas Carols to shut-in members of our community and to folks in nursing homes or memory care residences. The chorale has meant a lot to me.

Linda Everett
About Linda
I have been in performing groups (big and select) for most of my life. I sang in school and church ensembles and sang solos. As a school principal, I sang in student productions.
My undergraduate degree includes a minor in music, emphasis on voice and piano.
I joined chorale in 2022 (I think), when we moved here.
Much gratitude goes to our director and pianist!

About Jeanne
I enjoy singing in the Chorale and appreciate lessons in the vocal section breakdowns and how it sounds in performances. Joining the HR Chorale has been an opportunity to exercise my voice and learn / re-learn music. I really appreciate the rehearsal’s break out for Soprano -Alto – Tenor – Baritone – Bass – etc and how it all comes together for the performances.

Kathy Foley
About Kathy
I started with the Chorale when it began in 2006. I started singing in church choirs as a child. We had a choir for every age through high school. I didn’t sing in my college choir – no time! Started singing in my church choir after we moved to Baytown, Texas in the 70’s. I started singing in the Trinity Presbyterian Church choir in McKinney after we moved to north Texas. I have enjoyed singing in the Chorale – I think singing really helps our thinking as we age!

About Laura
I have enjoyed singing in a church choir for many years in my younger years. I also played the flute and piccolo in middle and high school years. I love singing in the HR Chorale and would encourage anyone who wants to spend time with a group of delightful people please come join us!

Jill Harrison
Secretary
About Jill
I have a degree in music therapy that I was never able to use. My daughter is an Orchestra Director & my son played in the high school band. When we moved to Heritage Ranch the end of March of 2020 – everything shut down for covid. It was hard to meet people or get involved. However, I had this neighbor that got me involved. The first thing she asked is do you sing? Then I got involved in Activities Committee with her and Marketing and Communications. I will always be indebted to this neighbor for getting me involved and not taking No for an answer.

June Ricks
About June
I’ve always loved music – both singing and playing the piano, and I’ve been in choirs my whole life. We moved here from Florida where we were snowbirds between there and The Lake of the Ozarks in MO. I sang with The Voices of Naples (VON) in FL and served as Scholarship Chairperson. VON is a non-profit organization which awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their vocal music studies at the university level. I also sang with Lumina, another non-profit which provides funding for women’s shelters. In MO I sang in church choir and did summer stock with The Lake Ozark Chorale. In both FL and MO venues, we performed Broadway musicals, classical, holiday themes, sacred music, and even a Tribute to Queen.

About Ken
Joined in 2015. My very small community in Illinois had an outstanding band program, winning the Statewide competitions for umpteen years in a row. My focus was playing the trumpet, and while we had a pretty good chorus program as well, I did not participate. So, I’m a late bloomer with the singing thing. In the 20 or so years prior to moving here I sang in church choirs and did an occasional solo. Moving here in February, I attended the Spring Concert that year to get a read on the quality of the HR Chorale. Signed up right after, and as they say “the rest is history”.

My wife, Kathy, and I have sung with the HR Chorale from its founding and we’ve enjoyed it ever since. I started singing in college and I sing in my church choir and the Allen Symphony Chorus. The Chorale gives everyone, even folks who have never sung in a group, the chance to make beautiful music for everyone at Heritage Ranch. It’s simply a lot of fun and the sense of contributing to the life of Heritage Ranch brings real joy.

About Pat
My role with the HR Chorale is as the Audio Tech and the job is to capture, broadcast and record live Chorale concerts. I have been associated with the Chorale for about the last eight to ten years. In addition, for the last 3 years I have been serving on the Chorale Board as Treasurer.
The audio aspects of this job are challenging in that I am trying to project the voices of the Chorale and our piano accompaniment to their maximum capability over the HR sound system in the HR ballroom to our audiences. In addition, I am recording the concerts to be available for anyone to listen to the concerts from their home computer.
The HR Chorale has been an important community activity for about 20 years providing multiple quality concerts every year such as Christmas, July 4th, Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
